Have you ever heard that saying? It’s one my husband used often as we were coming to terms with what we found. For years we have randomly looked at available real estate within our desired radius. Random and decent options would pop up every now and then but nothing we were in love with, or if we were we couldn’t afford it.
We started looking more seriously when Mark got a new job that was a little longer commute than we want for long term. After many drives and lot looking, we found a lot that happened to be up on a private road behind a gate. We got the code from the relator but was informed they had already received an offer on the land. We decided we would go check it out any way just for fun. The land was beautiful and a lot of what we have dreamt of and always wanted. It was listed a bit out of our price range and if they’d already received an offer there was no way they’d accept a low-ball offer; but just our luck the lot right next door had a sign up “For Sale by Owner”.
Mark had studied the MLS and knew that the lot was not listed there. The sign was so faded we could barely make out the number but we figured it out and contacted the owner. We made an offer we prayed they would be happy with.
We were thrilled when they accepted the offer!
A beautiful 6 acre lot on a mountainside filled with trees would be ours in just a few short weeks!
