This was an exciting week for us! The snow is almost gone which means it’s go time!
Last Week’s Accomplishments – I was able to deliver 120 feet, Six 20′ sticks of 24″ drainage culverts to cross a big ditch with our driveway. I got Taber to go up with me to help me manually handle the culverts. With two people it was doable but a decent workout. They weigh around 220 lbs each.-Today, we went up and met our neighbor who will be building a cabin on his property. We will be putting our driveway on our common property line so we discussed our plan with him. He was very nice and agreeable and is letting us divert a small drainage path onto his side of the property line. That was a blessing for us! We decided to make an evening of it and had some gourmet kraft mac and cheese up at the property. Good times 🙂
Pressing Project Milestone-Percolation test for the septic system. I need to get a test done before the end of April. I want to test up on the ridge where the house will be going.
Next Week Plan – (Thursday Night, All Day Friday and Saturday – while listening to conference of course 😉 )-Taber has a lot of extra landscaping rocks at his house in Layton he said we could have. I will be taking dad’s dump trailer up Thursday to try and get a load of those up to the land Thursday after work. We will use these rocks to try and stabilize our driveway.-With the excavator I am hoping to place two drainage culverts and cross the ditch AND get the excavator to the top of the ridge. No idea how that will go. But fingers crossed it can happen.
If Help Were Present They Would be Doing:(I want to include this section each week for an idea of what one might be doing if they showed up)-Not Critical: Not super clear on this one yet for this week as this is the beginning and I don’t know how the excavation will go, but I believe it would mostly be help getting culverts in place. Would probably be some shovel work and guiding and placing culverts, and possibly helping hooking straps around culverts and whatnot. Rubber water boots are highly recommended.
Property Condition:
-Super Muddy! Snow is almost gone, and anywhere there is moisture, it is slippery clay. There are places that are dry that are good for kids to hang out but not super great right now.
