Well, it is official, I’m lazy! That and life seems to be too busy! I actually don’t have a ton to report as we seem to be mostly done with excavation this summer. So without a lot to report I haven’t been as motivated to highlight how little I’ve been doing in the form of a newsletter.

Yesterday we did go up to the land. I don’t think it would come as a surprise to anyone reading this email that I had a repair to do on the excavator 🙂  .. There were a couple track idlers on one side that were broken. It was supposed to be a really easy repair. One hour tops.  Each roller was held on by 4 bolts.  So easy job right.. undo 8 bolts, remove two rollers, and bolt the two new ones back in. I brought up an air compressor and an impact wrench thinking that was the right tool. Turns out it didn’t do much. I had to run to the store and buy a big breaker bar (I broke Doug’s breaker bar earlier, so I had to buy a little stronger breaker bar). That made it easy! The way it should have been.  There was one bolt I worked on FOREVER, before I went and bought the breaker bar.  I had used tons of torch heat and had tried and tried to no avail.  And then with the new breaker bar .. it broke! 😦  So an hour long job took all day and I didnt even get it done. I did get one roller replaced but in the end I think I have a much bigger job ahead of me to try and get that bolt out.  Was a big bummer!.  But somehow.. we will get it done 🙂

This time of year is by far my favorite time to be up on the property. It’s cooler, and soooo gorgeous.  So many beautiful colors up there.  We decided to pull our trailer out for the winter which means no more home away from home!  I do not know how much I will be writing in the near future, we may stop for a bit and pick it back up when the project gets going again. Either way I’m sure I’ll drop an email if there is anything worth mentioning.

Take care and stay safe!

Mark
